Following the successful Inaugural Uganda National Deaf Summit held on 24th to 25th March 2025,we were honored to be hosted by the staff of the Grow Project at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, funded by the World Bank, earlier today.
We engaged in fruitful discussions regarding deaf entrepreneur women in Uganda who have been left behind and excluded from benefiting from the Grow Project. We are pleased to report that the management of the Grow Project has agreed to take concrete action to address this issue and ensure the inclusion of deaf women.
Moreover, we reached a consensus on incorporating sign language into their program, facilitating access to communication and information for Deaf people in Uganda. We also explored other crucial matters related to accessibility for all persons with disabilities.
The Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development has expressed appreciation for the concerns raised by Deaf Sign Alliance and has committed to addressing these challenges.
